Go For a Run on AMI

Now that the hottest time of year is behind us and the Florida humidity becomes more forgiving, it’s the ideal time to get outside and make the most of our beautiful weather!

Of course, going to lay on the beach or a sunset walk is a fabulous Fall and Winter go-to. But, what about if you’re trying to get a little pep in your active step? If you’re an avid runner or just wanting to go on a leisurely stroll in the great Gulf outdoors – We’ve rounded up some great local trails and parks. For those about to walk, we salute you!

Gulf Drive
Are you a running enthusiast? Well, you can run the entire 7-mile stretch of Anna Maria Island! Just stay on Gulf Drive! Start either at Coquina or the North End (near Bean Point) and you can travel AMI from top to tail! You’ll get great views and a lovely sea breeze to keep you going! Gulf Drive is definitely one of the most beautiful and expansive running routes on the island.

Robinson Preserve
Robinson’s Preserve Trail is a 7.5 mile loop trail located just over the bridge in Bradenton. The northern end of the loop is especially wild and interesting, meandering through dense mangroves along the shoreline. This trail is an excellent escape. Part of the trail is paved, part shell and part raised wooden walkways. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!

Perico Preserve
Featured at this site are the coastal wetlands as well as carefully planned scrub hills and upland areas that hearken back to historical coastal Manatee County. Perico Preserve Loop is a 1.6 mile loop trail located in Bradenton (right across from Robinson Preserve!) that features a serene lake with lots of exciting bird sightings. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips.

DeSoto National Memorial Park
Desoto National Memorial Park Trail is a 1 mile loop trail in Northwest Bradenton that features beautiful wild flowers and an excellent access to the shoreline. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The Beach
Last but certainly not least, you can always go for a beach run down our white sandy shores! And, if you need a place to stay near the beach, or one of these trails, reach out to our team at A Paradise and we’ll cheer you along the whole way!
