The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially kicked off their 50th year as seasonal Bradenton residents at LECOM Park for Spring Training. The strong partnership and familial relationship between the Pirates organization and the city of Bradenton has become an important staple for both.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ springtime home at LECOM Park in Bradenton, formerly named McKechnie Field, is hard to miss when entering Bradenton. The beautiful Spanish-style facility was originally built in 1923 but has been renovated several times over the years – including major upgrades in 2013 to make it stand out as one of baseball’s finest.
The Pittsburgh Pirates made LECOM Park their Spring Training home in 1969 and have been back every spring since… and with tickets as low as $18, we can’t wait to keep coming back too! The Pirates have 16 home games this spring, which kicked off against the Yankees on February 24th.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a Pirates fan or not, a baseball enthusiast or a newbie, young or old. There’s something special about seeing a good game of baseball and at Pirates’ Spring Training here in Bradenton, it’s sure to be a fun experience for the whole family.
“Our objective is very clear, and that is to put ourselves in a position to bring a championship back to Pittsburgh and back to our southern home in Bradenton,” Pirates’ President Frank Coonelly said at a press conference.
